Evidence Tracking
All evidence connected to an incident is tracked in PolicePro, linked automatically to the incident it belongs to.
The Evidence function includes digital images capability where it might be useful. The Evidence Image button yields a large, fullscreen view of the photograph.
Evidence tracking is built in to the program as well. Your evidence officer or ID officer/s can log any piece of evidence in, out and back in again as it goes to labs for analysis, court for evidentiary hearings or trials, or even out to the detective room for court ordered viewing by defense attorneys.
Barcoding is offered as well as a component of the location function... items checked in get printed barcodes which can be stuck on the item or the bag it may be in. The item can then be checked in and out with a click of a barcode scanner. In New York State, PolicePro automatically generates the State Police Laboratory Submission form for any item with one mouseclick.
PolicePro tracks evidence in drug task forces where the number of items in evidence exceeds 13,000. As one task force coordinator said after replacing a DB2 system they'd had for years:
