What is PolicePro? Why should I want to use it?
Our mantra (above) explains what PolicePro is about: painless database power for small police departments. By "smaller" we mean the heart of American law enforcement - agencies around or under 100 or so sworn officers. Above those numbers you're talking about more complex structures with (necessary) layers of administration that start to get away from the core law enforcement function that we choose to address.

PolicePro is computer assisted
dispatching and outstanding incident information management
beyond the communications room. PolicePro runs every piece
of your investigative and incident based operations.
PolicePro tracks all of your evidence and lets you know
where it is, when it went to the lab or court, who took it,
and when it got back. It maintains digital photographic
images of evidence if you want it to. All your criminal
complaints, your witness statements, arrest cards, suspect
and person data, no matter what you want to know - it's all
right on your desktop or on the laptop computer in your
police car, right down to the location that Officer Roberts
called out at 12 minutes ago.
PolicePro keeps track of your personnel, your active
warrants and the due diligence your people are expending on
those warrants - crucial information on Domestic Violence
cases. Department inventory, assignments, traffic stop
information... every piece of the core mission of a police
department falls under the PolicePro umbrella.
PolicePro is drop-dead easy to
use. The amount of training a street or road cop needs to
get going is tiny. Your dispatchers, supervisors and
administrators go a little deeper into the system and can
do a lot more with it, but the learning curve for them as
well is as flat as any system there is. PolicePro's
reporting capabilities are amazing, whether it's a summary
of activity for Zone 3 in the third week of June, or the
monthly Uniform Crime Report, zapped out of the program as
a single PDF with one click of a PolicePro Print button.
PolicePro interacts with
popular law enforcement software like Comnetix's excellent
RICI LiveScan booking, among others.
With PolicePro, an amazing level of information is
available to the one cop currently on patrol, from the
front seat of his or her police car while still parked
outside the burglary location.
PolicePro-based departments have become or are becoming
successfully accredited in New York, New Jersey and Alaska
by their respective states. There's likely others that we
don't even know about.
PolicePro is the real thing. Do not for one minute think
otherwise. A four story building and a bunch of guys
running around to trade shows giving away free pens and
calculators does not preclude the possibility of true
excellence coming from a small office in upstate New York.

All this works in the car as well, of course, especially
with touchscreen enabled computers like Panasonic’s
outstanding ToughBooks.
Give me a few examples of why we need this!
"Who
was that guy who robbed the Northstar Bank on Route 9
around ten years ago? Exactly when was that, and who was
involved?"
"The homeowners over on North Manheim are driving me crazy.
How many traffic stops have we made there, and how many
tickets were issued? Give me last month and last year."
"I'm thinking officer Schmeckenbecker for the new detective
promotion. How many burglary investigations has she been
involved in? How many robberies? I want to see every
robbery investigative report she's ever written, and I need
it all in twenty minutes."
"DA's Office needs the full case folder on that assault
from last week, and they need it in their hands in ten
minutes."
"That sex abuse case from last night... I want all reports
on that restricted to detectives and admin level people
only. Give everybody else the incident data and the people,
but restrict the actual narratives. We don't need that
getting around, there were kids involved."
